— Prologue

A workshop in central Israel. A standard set in 1966.

The brothers Ben Yaakov and David Hangal opened a workshop in central Israel with a single, uncompromising idea: that a Torah case, a kiddush cup, a menorah, is not decoration. It is the object a family will keep — and one day, hand on.

Two generations later, the same workbench still anchors every piece we make.

— Heritage

Six decades, distilled into a single discipline.

The Beginning

1966

Two brothers, one conviction

Ben Yaakov and David Hangal founded Achi Hai Judaica Manufacturing Ltd. on a simple, uncompromising idea: that the objects which hold our most sacred moments must be made with the same reverence they will one day receive.

Growth & Mastery

1980 — 2010

A craft refined across decades

Three generations of artisans pass through the workshop. The catalogue grows past five hundred designs. Synagogues and families in the United States, Mexico, France, and beyond commission pieces that travel home in custom cases — each a testament to a single guiding standard.

HAY Design

Today

Heritage, recomposed for the modern home

Sixty-seven years of craft, distilled into a contemporary visual language. Every piece that leaves the studio still carries the brothers' first conviction — to be precise enough, beautiful enough, and made well enough, to be passed down for generations.

— The Making

Five stages, one piece, one signature at the end.

Stage 01

Structure

The journey begins in the woodworking department.

Each case is built from hand-selected wood, Corian, or carbon fibre, then reinforced and inspected for the geometric precision the rest of the piece will depend on. A vessel made to be quietly indestructible.

Stage 02

Design

Pattern, drawn for one piece.

Working from the client's vision, our designers compose a unique pattern — then laser cutters and CNC mills translate it into brass, copper, or pure silver plates with the tolerance of a watchmaker.

Stage 03

Plating

Multiple immersions. One finish.

A patient sequence of polishing, refining, and immersion brings the metal to its intended tone and brilliance. A final protective layer is sealed in, holding the finish steady for decades to come.

Stage 04

Assembly

Where geometry becomes form.

Master artisans align and join each element by hand — silversmiths, woodworkers, metal experts working in concert. Every seam is checked, every joint set true, every detail tuned to the rest.

Stage 05

Final Touch

A signature, in the hand of the master.

The studio's master craftsman personally inspects each finished case, then sets the crowns, finials, and inscriptions chosen by the family. Only then is the piece sealed into its custom protective casing and prepared for its first journey.

The Artisan's Concierge

The answers usually asked over a phone call.

Each commission is a conversation that begins long before the first cut. Below — the practical details our concierge usually walks every new client through.

  1. N° 01

    Production

    4 – 6 weeks

A typical commission moves from drawing to finished case in four to six weeks, depending on the level of personalisation. Every step is documented; you receive the piece in your inbox before it leaves the studio.

  2. N° 02

    Global delivery

    10 – 14 business days

We work with leading international couriers — including specialists who serve Jewish communities in the United States, France, and beyond. Every shipment is insured, fully tracked, and arrives in a custom protective casing made to fit your piece.

  3. N° 03

    Materials

    Sterling, brass, copper

Sterling silver 925, brass, and copper sit alongside premium woods, Corian, and carbon fibre. We do not compromise on origin or alloy — the only constraint we accept is your design.

  4. N° 04

    Personal concierge

    A dedicated representative

From the first conversation to the moment the case is placed on your table, a single representative accompanies the project — Hebrew, English, by phone or WhatsApp. The peace of mind is part of what you commission.

— A note from the atelier

Made today. Passed on tomorrow.

Every commission begins with a conversation. Tell us about the piece you have in mind — the inscription, the family it will live with, the table it will sit on, the year it should be ready for.

From the first sketch to the moment your case is unpacked, a dedicated representative walks the entire process with you. Hebrew and English. Phone or WhatsApp. The peace of mind is part of what you commission.
